With its three large separators, the GRIMME EVO 280 is designed for high separation and throughput rates. Thanks to the completely hydraulic main web drive, it can be adapted to different harvesting conditions: Numerous settings are possible ranging from crop sensitive to intensive separation of impurities. The different versions of the MultiCrop intakes allow to switch between different crops and harvesting conditions within a very short time. The mechanical quick-change system is complemented by a standardised interface for hydraulics, electronics and electrics. The telescopic axle ensures a safe road transport with a machine width of only 3.00 m on the one hand. On the other hand, it ensures maximum driving stability in the field as the axle can be extended by an impressive 500 mm. The machine's versatility of use and stability of value are positively influenced by its modular design. This applies in particular to the intake, the new swing frame, the third separator and the picking table.

The speed of the two finger belts can be separately adjusted by hydraulic means. They are thus optimally suited for use on soils with a high clod but low stone content. A V-shaped arrangement of the fingers is available for improved separation and throughput.

The EVO 280 is powerful but still compact in design to realize a transport width of 3 meter. The up to 3.5 meter telescopic axle ensures exceptional stability of the harvester even when the bunker is full.

Thanks to the completely hydraulic drive-system, all main webs, including the optionally available intake web, as well as the separators can be adjusted independently of the engine speed (PTO speed) of the tractor. If desired, electronic assistance systems like Speedtronic-Web and Speedtronic-Sep relieve the operator by automatically regulating all web- and separator speeds depending on the load. With Speedtronic Cruise, the machine uses various parameters to adjust the tractor's driving speed in order to achieve the optimum balance between throughput and crop protection at all times. The operator is significantly relieved and the machine is consistently driven with the same work result.

Thanks to a standardised interface for electrics and oil supply, the newly developed, parallel-guided "MultiCrop-Intake" enables different harvesting intakes to be changed in a record time of less than five minutes. All known intake variants are available, including further options for harvesting various crops out of ridges, beds or windrowed crops.

A NonstopBunker with a capacity of 7.5 tonnes is available as an option. This can further increase the performance of the harvester as well as that of the transport logistics. Thanks to the generously dimensioned overloading height and width, large distances can be bridged between the harvester and transporting trailers and even high transport vehicles can be loaded easily and conveniently while harvesting.

Depending on the cultivation method (rows, beds, flat beds etc.), a wide range of different vegetables such as carrots, celeriac, red beet or onions can also be harvested besides to potatoes.

The interchangeable separator enables the third separator to be changed between EasySep and ClodSep. Due to standardised interfaces for mechanics, electrics and hydraulics, the change can be carried out almost without tools in a short time. Defined attachment points allow the separators to be lifted with the aid of a crane or telescopic loader.

The MultiCrop intake enables adaptation to different crops or harvesting conditions in less than five minutes. The desired harvesting attachment (intake-version) is coupled mechanically, electrically and hydraulically without tools using a standardised interface. The harvesting attachment is displayed appropriately on the GRIMME digital interface (GDI) by means of a simple selection and can be operated intuitively. The depth-guiding in a parallelogram ensures optimum decoupling between the machine and the intake. Together with the flexible main web channel, the intake follows the ground as closely as possible, even on uneven terrain.

The EVO 280 MultiCrop can be flexibly adapted to a wide range of operating conditions and crops. A wide range of interchangeable intake systems is available for this purpose, which can be swapped out in a matter of minutes depending on the soil type, crop and harvesting method.
The specified intake for ridges or beds is ideal for the direct harvesting of root crops grown in these cultivation systems – such as potatoes, carrots or celeriac. For regions where crops are harvested in a windrowing process, the windrow intake offers the ideal solution, e.g. for onions or potatoes.
Depending on the intended use, all intake-models can be fitted with different pick-up and feed elements, tine types and disc combinations. This allows the EVO 280 MultiCrop to be precisely tailored to the specific soil conditions, crops and regional harvesting methods.

The disc coulters of the EVO 280 have been designed with a larger diameter, which results in an even better cutting and rolling effect. Each disc coulter is mounted on a single bracket and can be individually adjusted in height and distance to the main web and share.
The various models offer flexible solutions for different soil and growing conditions:
  • The configuration of the machine with two outer disc coulters is suitable for harvesting beds or ridges. They are also useful to guide additional (light) soil into the machine to promote crop protection.
  • Four disc coulters – optionally hydraulically driven – are particularly suitable for single-ridge cultivation and reduce soil adhesion even under difficult conditions.
  • Hydraulic drives improve crop flow and ensure the discs rotate, particularly when dealing with sticky soils or intakes without diabolo rollers.
  • Six disc coulters – which can also be hydraulically driven – are ideal for harvesting three rows from a bed, particularly when growing carrots.

A transport frame, available with or without lighting, is available for the independent transport of the intake-unit without the EVO 280, designed to be attached to the tractor’s rear hydraulics. This ensures both easy handling on the farm and safe transport on the road.

All functions can be easily controlled via the clear GRIMME digital interface (GDI) and perfectly positioned controls. Presets, assistance functions and automated workflows significantly reduce the workload. The terminal in question can easily be expanded to include additional control systems, such as the IBX.

Autonomy in machine settings:

The intelligent Speedtronic system automatically adjusts the speeds of the main webs and separators to suit the crop flow and harvesting conditions. Using Speedtronic Cruise, the tractor’s driving speed is even adjusted fully automatically in line with the harvester’s workload. This ensures higher throughput, a smoother ride, less stress for the operator and consistently high crop quality!
