GentleFlow – The secret behind perfect crops
Crop protection is crucial for quality and revenue. The unique product flow of the VARITRON and the gentle transfers minimise losses.
GentleFlow provides a continuous main web channel from left to right across all four rows. The VARITRON thus offers the smallest contact surface between the crop and the channel walls on the market – an important feature for ensuring gentle handling of the crop right from the start. Positive side effect: The crop flow is very clear and enables maximum throughput.
The product flow is picked up at a flat angle and across the full working width without division. With the TERRA TRAC variant, this even extends across the entire machine, from the second main web and the separators downstream to the ring elevator!
The flat main web angles ensure that the product is handled gently, as the harvested material does not roll back.
Highest variability of separators
The VARITRON is renowned for its harvesting reliability even under the most difficult conditions and for its high quality. One reason for this is the fact that the self-propelled harvester can be equipped with a wide variety of separators.
These include the MultiSep, the roller separator, the roller separator with variable centre distance adjustment (Vario-RS), a fine haulm elevator, or a combination of several of these separation devices.

Ring elevator
The ring elevator conveys the harvested crop gently onto the bunker filling elevator with minimal drop steps. It can be designed as a closed elevator or as a perforated elevator with OptiBags which are of soft PU. In both cases, so-called "active side panels" protect the crop, as it cannot rub against the side walls and become damaged.
OptiBag
The highly elastic, perforated OptiBags provide additional screening of residual soil. With the new optional 20 x 15 mm holes, this version is also ideal for small potatoes, onions and carrots.
Bunker filling elevator
The bunker filling elevator then conveys the harvested crop with the lowest possible drop steps into the 13 m³ NonstopBunker XL.
NonstopBunker XL
With a large overload width, the 9-11 tonnes can be unloaded in less than a minute, even over four rows. This is the fastest discharge time you can find on the market!
The patented NonstopBunker principle:
Conventional bunkers are usually emptied in one step onto a transport vehicle or into boxes when they are full. A continuous unloading process during harvesting means that the bunker is emptied on one side while it is already being refilled on the other side. If this process is interrupted because the transport vehicle is full, crop remains on the elevator of the bunker. Consequently, the available, theoretical bunker capacity cannot be used.
The ingenious design of the GRIMME NonstopBunker allows the bunker floor to be reversed without additional damage to the crop. The bunker capacity can thus be completely utilised at any time and the re-moved crop serves as a soft cushion for the subsequent harvested crop flow.
Another advantage is the enormous protection of the crop, as there is no additional transfer stage in the bunker. This prevents damage or loss of the tubers and reduces negative rolling effects to a minimum. Growers have confirmed an increase in performance of up to 30 % compared to harvesters with a standard bunker.
Gentleness and comfort for both, driver and tuber
The driver has a major influence on the careful handling of the harvested crop. The VARITRON provides him with a lot of assistance in this regard.

Let's start at the very beginning: The drivers' cab is fitted well back and the main frame design gives the driver a good view of the intake unit any time.
